My work is primarily experimental and playful: I work intermixing traditional and digital techniques, intersecting them into one single alloy. Mixed media allows me to explore an almost “infinite” range of possibilities in order to “build images”. My studio is like a laboratory, where I mix, combine and ensamble new composites…and also, where somewhat trivial, everyday objects (chunks of wood, cardboards, metal screws and so on), become magical, almost mythological beings that are later translated into data files and pixels as weightless illusions. Iconographically, I focus on the human body as Cosmos, which is constantly revised through the eye of Art History, scientific development as well as symbolic, cultural and mythological attachments…that are now being redefined through the “new myth” of digital media and cyberspace. In all of these mixtures I reflect on the “experimental mind” that I, as artist, intent to embody (with a certain degree of randomness): mirroring my own diverse and mixed cultural background, where tradition and innovation are not opposites but rather complementary elements of creativity.
